Provost's Promise Q & A

What if I have taken college classes already?

This program is for first-time post secondary students. If you took College classes while in
high school, you are still eligible to be apart of the Provost’s Promise. If you took courses at
another college post high school or GED, then you would not qualify.

What if I do not qualify for financial aid?

That is fine. The program requires everyone to complete the FAFSA application to see if you
qualify for any amount of PELL or MAP, but if you don’t, the Promise will pay your balance.

What if I do not fill out the Foundation Scholarship Application by May 1?

Unfortunately, you would not qualify for the program.

What about your healthcare programs, can I major in those?

You COULD. If you are majoring in Nursing or HITT , yes you qualify because you can
complete a certificate in 2-years. For programs like Radiology Technology, Sonography,
HITT Echocardiography, to qualify, you would have to complete all of the prerequisite
courses while in high school.

What if I have a documented disability or need accommodations, can I be in the program?

Yes! Speak with your Academic Advisor or mentor to discuss the best class options for you.

What if I received a GED or HiSet instead of diploma?

Yes, you qualify, as long as you have not taken college courses since then.

What if I don’t want to get an Associates degree or transfer?

No problem, everyone's path is different. Being in a certificate program makes you eligible
for the program.

Does the program cover books?

Yes! Tuition, fees, and books are covered as part of this program. You are responsible for
any other needs, such as supplies.

What if I drop/withdraw from a course?

If you DROP a course and add one to remain at 15 credit hours, you can still be in the
program. If you WITHDRAW from a course or fail, you will not be eligible to continue in the
program and will need to cover any costs for that semester.

What if I have questions about residency/ being in-district

Each situation is different, please email d.nasser@dacc.edu with questions.
